Why This Blog

When my MS progressed, I was totally unprepared for how differently the world would treat me me a disabled person. It turns out that once you start to get a handle on your new body, the hardest thing is other people. There’s something about disability that brings out the worst in strangers. Is it the fear that something like this might happen to them?

Insensitive comments that people regularly say include: “ What happened to you?”, “I hope whatever happened to you doesn’t happen to me.”, “It’s when we see people like you do we realize how lucky we are.”

Then there’s the accessibility issues.

Then there’s the overwhelming list of things you should do to manage your decline.

Then there’s trying to live a good life.

Where’s the Sparkle?

That’s what I’m trying to find. From new strategies to make myself feel better, scoping out  accessible places to visit, mobility aid reviews, seeking out inspiration in art and history. I hope you will join me in my journey of making my life more Sparkly.

ME sitting on my Atto Mobility circle in front of a twinkling semi circle. I am a white female with long brow hair. I am wearing a red farm style dress with spaghetti straps.

Me at my son’s family dance. The photo doesn’t really capture how Sparkly my jelly shoes or the elation I felt at participating fully at a school event.
